The Freedom Monument stands in the central square of Rietavas, next to the municipal administration building. It was unveiled in 1928 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Independence. It was later demolished and rebuilt in 1992. The Monument to Freedom is a sculpture of a girl holding a torch in her right hand and a shield with the image of Vytis in her left. The Freedom Monument in Rietavas is also interesting because it stands on the highway where the Samogitian Highway was built.
