The Ruškis Landscape Reserve was established in 1974 in order to preserve the valuable geomorphological complex of the south-western slope of the Samogitian Uplands. The area of the reserve is 294 ha.There are deep hollows with small lakes near the high hills. The Lopaičiai hill is high up, with several small lakes a hundred metres below it. One of them is called "ruškis", where there is a recreation centre with gazebos, tables, benches, a fire pit and a bridge to Lake ruškis. The water of Lake ruškis is extremely soft, dark brown in colour. People say that the water cures some diseases. In 2012, a measure to control the abundance of spinycheek crayfish was launched in Lake ruškis, so catching these invasive crayfish is encouraged and crayfish catchers are always welcome here. The oak tree by the lake was planted in 1930 by the people of Tveriškės to commemorate the 500th anniversary of Vytautas the Great's death.
